Rudd cleared to go back to Lowe's
By Audrey Nolan
After having a crash at the California Speedway on Labor Day weekend, with a shoulder injury and after being unconscious for a brief moment, Ricky Rudd was cleared out by the doctors, now he can go back to the Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
"The plan right now is to race this weekend," Rudd said. "I have to get a release from NASCAR, but the doctor said there's no reason why I couldn't race this week. "There are a couple of technicalities, more of a formality than anything -- liability issues and things like that. The doctor has to give an official word to NASCAR, and he said that will happen."
Although; he missed 5 races while he was on rehab due to his injured shoulder, the most difficult thing was not to know when was he going back to race. The experience was not bad, actually he learned a lot on how the other teams were preparing on a different way.
"I always wanted to come back, but didn't know much about a separated shoulder," Rudd said. "I've broken bones before, done that, so you kind of know what to expect. But with the separated shoulder, my left arm was useless for a while. The most awkward thing was going to the track and not climbing in the car, being at the event and doing everything normal, but not getting in the car. You wonder what to do with yourself, like, 'now what?' "
He also said that there is never a good time to get injured, since the competition keeps on going, if they want to win, it’s going to be much harder now.
