The Minnesota Wild team became to existence as a result of the NHL allowing a new expansion team in 1997. The Wild began to play for the 2000-2001 season but the team struggled during its first years. Nevertheless, the Wild showed their potential to build up a strong future team.
Most recently during the 2007-2008 campaign the Wild managed to surpass several records including goals and overall points which led to the team’s first division championship victory in their history.
The Wild entered the 2007-2008 playoffs as the number one in the Northwest conference but lost in the quarterfinals to Avalanche (4-2).
The team’s current Head Coach is the Canadian Jacques Lemaire who has been coaching the Wild since their first ever season in 2000. He holds a record of 1049 games, 500 wins and 381 loses. |
