Premier League Darts - History
History
- The Holsten Premier League was launched on January 20, 2005 and it is a darts tournament.
- Nowadays, the league is played weekly from February to May, having originally started as a fortnightly fixture.
- The tournament has expanded from seven players and now features eight of the biggest names from the PDC circuit with matches held across the country at different venues.
- In July 2006, the PDC announced that the 2007 Premier League would boast a total of £265,000 prize money and a guarantee minimum of £15,000 for each player that qualifies.
- Phil Taylor has won the event both in the 2005 and 2006 competition. He has remained unbeaten throughout with a record of Played 28, Won 27, Drawn 1, Lost 0, Legs Won 254, Legs Lost 100 - he has won 72% of all legs he has played.
